Paul Kay is a former Soloist with The Royal Ballet, where he enjoyed a distinguished 19-year career. After training at The Royal Ballet School, first as a Junior Associate and later as a full-time student at White Lodge and the Upper School, he joined The Royal Ballet in 2003. He was promoted to First Artist in 2005 and Soloist in 2008.
Throughout his career, he performed a wide-ranging repertoire, from works by Frederick Ashton and Kenneth MacMillan to creations by contemporary choreographers such as Christopher Wheeldon and Wayne McGregor. He developed a particularly close artistic association with McGregor, taking part in the creative process of several of his ballets.
Following his performing career, he completed The Royal Ballet School’s Diploma of Dance Teaching, further developing his work as a teacher and his commitment to training the next generation of dancers.
He later returned to The Royal Ballet School as Head of Intensive Courses and Talent Identification The Royal Ballet School London), working in student training, intensive courses and auditions, and bringing to young dancers the extensive experience gained throughout his career as both a performer and teacher.
